As simple as it looks at first glance, this costume was actually quite difficult to construct and took about three months. There are many small details not easily seen in the photos. The corset/bodice and sleeves have "veins" on them, and the sides of the boots have small details as well. Everything was made from scratch, even the leotard under the corset/bodice. The patterns were also drafted from scratch. Materials used on the costume are Duchess Satin, PVC, and Spandex. Wing materials are Latex, PVC piping, movable wooden snakes, and other various screws, fixtures, etc. Saya and her father spent many hours figuring out how to construct the wings so that they would be movable. Then, we as a group spent a weekend constructing our wings. They were far and away the most difficult aspect of this costume (especially for me since I am NOT a "tool" person), but they are very worth it. They're a lot of fun to expand and retract, and they kept me entertained while waiting in line to go on stage. :D
